Latest tram proposal goes off tracks

The latest tram proposal for Central Maitland has been shelved without
further consideration. Council last night received and noted a report on
conducting a feasibility study into the idea. It fell to Councillor
Peter Garnham, who called for the report, to then make the decision to
scrap any further investigation work. He conceded the $50,000 needed to
conduct the feasibility study would have been difficult to find in the
budget for next financial year.
