There were massive fleet rearrangements to meet the Olympics timetable.

STN 900 for last Tuesday night / Wednesday morning involved numerous empty
movements between Campbelltown, Hornsby, Waterfall and Penrith.

There was explicit remarshalling of four R sets into three S sets at Hornsby
and one of the Newcastle 2DDK sets was to attach 22 spare cars at Hornsby to
form three S / K sets.

The Olympics timetable uses 1158 suburban cars and 230 intercity cars,
compared to 1090 and 210 in the standard timetable. Details for the
suburban cars appear below in .csv format. I haven't attempted to count the
intercity sets!

Additional cars are made available by completing refurbishment programs and
by re-scheduling 90-day inspections away from the Olympics.

I *think* the suburban fleet totals 1218 cars. I'm pretty sure that all 450
Tangara cars are in service. I'm not sure how many C/K/L/R/S set cars exist
after the last decade of incidents, but I think the total is 768.

The C/K/L/R/S set cars include 56 Tulloch cars (4797, 4839/40, 4843-95).
There were 725 stainless steel cars (3001 - 3080, 3501 - 3608, 3741 - 3765,
3805 - 3986, 4011 - 4099, 4101 - 4274, 4921 - 4987) but I haven't kept up
with scrappings -- if 768 is the correct total then 13 stainless steel cars
have been scrapped.

The "% of fleet" figures below are based on the assumed total of 768
C/K/L/R/S set cars. In counting the sets, I've included Springwood in
"Sector 3" but tried to keep Gosford and Wollongong separate from suburban
workings. The figures are for daytime usage -- three of the Gosford sets
and two of the Wollongong sets join the late-night Olympic Park shuttle to
give a total of 29 trains.
