The "Official Spectator Guide", issued to all ticket holders, makes
absolutely no mention about the prohibition of scanners. The only related
restricted category is "Broadcast equipment of non-rights holding
broadcasters". Assuming you are using an R2 and not a Q7A as your scanner,
then this category wouldn't apply :)

There is a category of "Items or actions which are deemed inappropriate or
dangerous and could disturb the enjoyment of other spectators". Obviously
this category is subject to wide interpretation, and could apply to
literally anything, so I suggest anyone wanting to take a scanner into an
Olympic venue should contact SOCOG, obtain an approval in writing, and take
the approval with you (assuming you obtain one!)
