Blue Gooses (NSW)

Hi All,
I'd like some info on the inter urban electric trains that run between
Sydney & Newcastle etc. I remember when they first arrived a few
thousand years ago, they were called "Blue Gooses", due in fact of the
blue trimming they had. How did they get the name goose? Or "Gooses"
as we call them now.
What is the history of these trains ie where were they designed, built
etc.
