Re: Question: AustrailiaTrain Sims. +more q's

The question shouldn't be why aren't they electrifying all the way to
Bombaderry, rather why are they electrifying Dapto-Kiama.

With the FreightCorpse Electric fleet all but out of regular service (and
all other NSW rail operators relying solely on Diesels (unless you count
NSWRTM (4638)), the only electric trains that are likely to grace the line
towards Kiama are V, L&G sets.

IMHO they should be building more DMUs to increase the service frequency and
number of carriages, rather than electrifying the line and then having to
build more interurban EMUs (or having to reduce the number of cars on other
services or cut back on maintenance to free up more cars).

If the idea is to introduce a direct service from Kiama-Sydney, why not
replace the XPTs with something a bit more appropriate for their current
operations, then use half of them from Bombaderry-Sydney and the other half
could perhaps run Maitland-Sydney. Given that the length of these trips
would be the same as what the XPTs were originally designed for (i.e. UK
Intercity services), IMHO they would be perfect for the job.

That just leaves one question - what would they do with 8 surplus XAM cars?

Any thoughts?
