I don't think they were like the one I photgraphed in Melbourne when
they were relaying the tram tracks (I only saw one) and apart from the
fact that it did not have autocouplers or brake-hoses but buffers and
provision for draw-hooks, it seems to be otherwise identical to the
ones seen by Marc. I would suggest that this contractor (Holland?) got
a bulk deal on 4-wheel hoppers (suggested conversation at Casey
Jones's used wagon yard at Thirlmere; "Listen mate, we just wannem
outta here, 'cause were expecting a shipment of 75' freight vans..
Tellya what, take 5 and I'll throw in another for nix". Or something
like that.
