Re: Catchpoints - what are they?



Check out this website which has a glossary of signalling terms as well
as a pretty good description of how signalling is designed and how SSI
(the computer based signalling system developed by British Rail,
Westinghouse Signals and Alstom) works. SSI is in use throughout the UK
and is in use here in Australia at Roma Street (QLD) and Hornsby,
Enfield, Glenfield, Blacktown, Hurstville and a few other junctions in
NSW.

The website deals with British Signalling but most elements apply to
Australian systems.
