Re: [QLD] Citytrain - Odd Announcement

Strange Announcement! However last Friday was the first time I have heard
the Corinda/Yeerongpilly service announced as a "shuttle". In my case it
was the 10:38 ex Y'pilly. On the connecting train from the city there was
an announcement to change for the "Yeerongpilly/Corinda Rail Shuttle".
This service is still being worked by Intercity cars, in this case 4 cars
of sets 152+158, with only the first car accessible. 3 pax from the city,
plus 5 from the ex-Beenleigh connection.

In the off-peak, at least, the shuttle comes from Corinda, and sits in the
down (citybound) platform. The down ex-Beenleigh and following ex-Robina
trains run via the up platform on the other side of the island before the
Corinda train departs. On this day, the automatic platform announcement
announced the Ferny Grove train (ex Beenleigh) as running departing from
Plat. 2 (the down platform) though a local announcement corrected this to
Plat. 1.

The "shuttle" leaves Corinda at ..:15, sits at Y'pilly from ..:21 to ..:38,
then arrives back at Corinda at ..:44. There seems no reason why the
"shuttle" waits at Yeerongpilly for 8 mins before heading to Corinda. If
this time was cut by a couple of minutes, it would get back to Corinda in
time to leave again at ..:45 thus providing a 30 min headway. This might
actually encourage people to use the service. As it stands, the train and
crew are sitting at Corinda Plat 1 with nothing to do. Maybe this way, pax
are discouraged to use the service, and then it can be axed. Better ride
it while you have a chance!
