Further to this, there is also an automatic announcement over the station's
PA announcing along the lines of "Good afternoon passengers, the next train
to depart from platform 1 will be the 4:36 Flinders Street, stopping all
stations to Flinders Street, via the city loop. The next train to depart
from platform 1 will be the 4:36 Flinders Street, stopping all stations to
Flinders Street, via the city loop". The announcements are run from a
system known as "PRIDE" and consoles for this are located in (most?)
premium stations. The automatic announcement is presumably set off by the
track curcuit, and plays the train that is queued in the PRIDE system. It's
a very effective system, maybe Cityrail should take another good example
from us Victorians.
