Alice to Darwin, construction locos.?

Web site updates from the consortium building the Alice
Darwin railway, now indicate with a time line how they
will be constructing this line North and South of
Tennant Creek and Katherine. As reported before, they
will NOT be constructing this line from Alice Springs.

This would mean that ALL materials including rails will
be carried by road trains.! Sleeper and welding plants
are to be set up in these two towns which are one third
and two thirds (approx) along the route. The NT gov
has set aside funds in their budget the other day
specifically for this.

Question is, will construction loco's be sent North up
the Stuart Highway by road just as the Commonwealth
Railways did for the NAR.?

Any bets on ASR's ex-SAR 830 class being conscripted
North for construction.? The old CR low loader which
carried the NSU and NT class between Alice Springs and
Larrimah, if it survives, might be dusted off for
further duty.
