Re: Airport Line Tickets

Ashley Wright got bored on Tue, 16 May 2000 07:21:59 GMT and so wrote the following:

Read an ad in todays Telegraph about ticket arrangements. Apparently
you cannot buy an airport line ticket, other then Wolli Creek (which
probaly doesn't count as it is a city rail station) from a ticket
vending machine. You must buy it from a window office only. If there
is no office you must buy a ticket to Wolli Creek if you are passing
through there, or to Central if you are changing at Central and when
you get to an airport line station pay the surcharge. Apparently the
TVM's will not be able to do Airport Line stations until latter this
          year!

Stickers have been put on all TVMs stating the inability of the ticket machine to issue these
tickets. Probably needs special programming to allow it to collect non-distance based fares (i.e.
the fixed "station usage fee" that airport line stations charge)--I believe at the moment they can
only calculate distance based fares without the station usage fee, with exception of Olympic Park:
the fare to Olympic Park during off peak times is actually the same as the peak time fares so
technically there's no "off peak" for those going there, so that makes up for the "station usage
fee".
