It doesnt really operate any different to any other signal you may see.
The major difference between home signals and all other type of signals
is that home signals protect things like points, crossings, level
crossings or any other type of danger. Theyre interlocked with the
points or level crossing boom gates etc, so that the points must be in
the correct position or the level crossing boom gates must be down
before the signal can be cleared. Thats a brief description.
