New train of thought - not [Vic]

I wanted to travel from Surrey Hills to Upper Ferntree Gully for a
theatre night midweek.
This involved a 12 min wait at Box Hill in the evening peak because the
local train is timetable to arrive just behind expresses which have only
just overtaken it.

The best way of having mixed express and stopping trains is to have
cross-platform interchange where one overtakes the other, but VR didn't
build Box Hill with this in mind (and only a year ago repeated the
mistake at Ringwood, having failed to make a useful station at Blackburn
also).
