Illawarra Meltdown 8/3/00

What happened yesterday on the Illawarra line?

Approx. 7:30 - 8:00AM the following occured (most probably due to the
rain):

1. The 7:26 at Hurstville (5:40 Port Kembla - Sydney) arrived at 7:39.
2. The 7:32 at Hurstville (7:02 Cronulla - Bondi) arrived at 7:36
3. The 7:39 at Hursvtille (7:06 Waterfall - Bondi) Commenced at ENGADINE
and departed Hursvtille at 7:46
4. The 7:41 at Hursvtille (6:22 Dapto - Sydney) departed at 7:52 and
stopped at Waterfall and Heathcote
5. The 7:44 at Hursvtille (Hurstville -Bondi) departed on time but...
6. The 8:00 & 8:14 at Hurstville (Hurstville - Bondi) trains Terminated
at ARNCLIFFE.

I can understand 3&4 since there is a scissors crossing somewhere near
Engadine but why were the all stops trains terminating at Arncliffe???
If it was an attempt to get trains back onto time, the only possible
crossing would be just before the entrance into enfield. which is AFTER
Tempe. Why not terminate the trains at Tempe so as passengers can catch
both East Hills trains and Illawarra trains instead of making everyone
cram onto the Illawarra trains. So what happened????
