A cattle train from Roma to Brisbane derailed in Oakey yard (approx. 30 km
west of Toowoomba on the Charleville line) on Saturday afternoon. The two
engines, 2133 and 2301, and one of the cattle trucks left the rails,
striking a freight wagon on an adjoing line and pulling up approx. 80m of
line. A 13 year old and a 10 year old are "helping police with their
enquiries".
Rescue locos were sent from Toowoomba, as were cranes to right the locos.
Todays Toowoomba Chronicle carried photo's of the derailed loco's on
Saturday, and the re railing attempts carried out yesterday.
