It was when I was living in Wollongong (end of last year) but not
previously (1992). Generally I noticed it would be an empty coal train
with two 81s or 82s (maybe one) in front and an 81 on the back. I have
no idea why this is. I'm not sure but I think remember seeing one
descend from the Summit Tank line while waiting at Unanderra one day.
Maybe its a banking engine returning. But that begs the question where's
the coal going in the first place and why do 81/82s need helpers up the
hills since 422s and 442 handled it. The trains with engines in the back
generally weren't that long either so I seriously don't know the reason.
