Ok - this is one of my biggest gripes about any rail system - they run empty
trains when they could be providing a service.

If the set has to go to Sydney for maintenance, why not run the damn thing
up in the morning peak, give it to the service centre during the day, then
run it back in the evening peak (like they do on the Southern Highlands). At
least then there would be a through service.
