S302. As a kid I loved the S class - to now roster them and run trains with
them for a living is a privelige (sp?). She's got a unique sound, howls
downhill through the Geelong tunnel, and roars out of the platform in the 8th
notch, makes transition at 'A' box, the engine backs off for a second then
exhaust pours out as she picks up the bit and starts pulling again. Gotta a
big train that needs horsepower - put 302 on it - well regarded by operating
staff and drivers, especially the old blokes who really know how to make 'em
run. And of course R711 - stand next to it with the oil burner cranked up and
feel the ground shaking like no other steam loco can do.

Cheers,
Craig.
