There have been several old NZ steam locomotives retrieved from riverbeds
etc where they were dumped during the depression years, apparently to
prevent erosion of nearby rail embankments.
Some have since been restored to working order, such as K88 and K92 (1877
Rogers 2-4-2 engines).
Apparently there are several more steam locomotives still at these
locations.
Can anyone advise:
1) Where exactly are these dumps?
2) Can anything be seen there?
3) What locomotives are still available in these dumps?
