If you refer to [NSW, Cityrail], there's always a puzzle at
http://www.cityrail.nsw.gov.au/upgrading/index.htm which tells you what
services are changed, but not exactly why.

This weekend features
* Illawarra lines (not Illawarra Local lines) closed Sydenham - Hurstville,
so Illawarra trains don't stop at Wolli Creek
* ALL lines (except the sprint platform) closed at Lidcombe so
1    West Interurbans are bussed Blacktown - Sydney
2    Suburban customers are bussed Strathfield - Granville
3    some CountryLink customers travel via Bankstown to Dubbo or via East
Hills (get your XPT shot at Birrong!)
4    RTM customers for Carcoar travel via Bankstown
* Woodville Junction / Islington Junction to Newcastle is closed, so lots of
buses run Newcastle - Broadmeadow (funny, can't see the alteration to
Maitland services on the web page!)
* Bondi Junction station is closed, so buses run Edgecliffe - Bondi Junction
while the trains run empty.
