I've been with them for 5 1/2 years and prior to that I spent 16 years
with State Rail (and all it's previous names). I started out as an
apprentice Elec Fitter at Chullora and all over the State working on
everything from the Indian Pacific (at ACDEP), stripping and rewiring
Locos at Chullora, crawling under locos and changing traction motor
brushes at Port Kembla (that's where I used to drive the 48's and 73's
in and out of the depot), and even spent time with the Overhead Elec
Branch at the infamous Strathfield Sub Station. And no I didn't get
stripped and dipped into transformer oil. In 1984 I got promoted into
Signal Design in Transport House as a Technical Assistant (at the time
I was an Elec Fitter tradesman) and worked my way up to a Profesional
Eng 3 and a Senior Officer 2 before being poached by WSA. Now does that
answer your query.
