Look at the timetables in http://railpage.org.au.
You could catch an XPT to Albury and connecting bus to Adelaide
OR
overnight XPT Sydney - Melbourne on Friday night, VLine train Melbourne -
Bendigo and connecting VLine day bus to Adelaide on Saturday.
I don't know how this is ticketed now that Australia's passenger services
have been fragmented: presumable the sum of the two single fares.
