Magic Trains!!

I have been reading the postings re:lost trains and am wondering about the
system(s) the SRA (or whoever!) run to show where a particular train is on the
system.

For example:-

                    A train is running from a point 'A' to a point 'B', and is
being observed (controlled) by the signal box for that section.

                     It "drops" of the line due to sand.

Why cannot there now be some form of alarm to alert a signalmen that a BLOODY
train just does not lift-off the tracks and complete its journey as a 747 jet!!!
