What good is a trip arm on the signal, regardless if it is one of the busiest
sections of track, if there are no "Safety Aparatus Levers", or "trips, trip
arms etc" on ANY locomotive that passes through there?? It would be
practically impossible to install such trip arms on locos, not because of
mechanics, but because of operating procedures. Imagine having a 3200 tonne
coalie behind you, and you have to trip 5 signals in a row due to a signal
failure, youd block the entire world, and the journey for the driver would be
rough as guts.
