The St Leonards system (created by a company known as Holman I believe) is
entirely controlled by station staff, but announcements are activated by
track sensors.

Today was a perfect example. With the overhead wiring probs at Turramurra,
the down trains departing at 7:56, 8:00, 8:05 were cancelled. The 8:08 ran
8 mins late. The displays simply wiped out the cancelled trains, and showed
the 8:08 train as the timetabled 8:17 trip, leaving 1 minute "early".

Furthermore, using what I assume is a "drag and drop" word library,
announcements said "..goes to Hornsby stopping at Artarmon all stations to
Gordon". Then the Windows chime played.
