[Qld] Cairns Sighting 27/4

27/4/00.
3C61 Kuranda Tourist Train arrived at Portsmith Yard at 1610hrs behind
1770D.

6252 Express Freight, to Townsville, was sighted in Portsmith Yard
behind
2159D; awaiting for departure; at 1613hrs.

0C39 Departmental Works Train arrived at Portsmith at 1616hrs behind
1755D.
The load was:- 1755D + HWAM 41067 + QFC 38644 + QFCA 36700 (all wagons
empty).

3C65 Kuranda Tourist Train arrived at Cairns at 1718hrs behind 1752D.

28/4/00.

1770D + 1755D (vehicle ?!?) arrived at Portsmith Yard at 1620hrs with
3C61
Kuranda Tourist Train.

2830 passed through Portsmith at 1623hrs with 3C37 Sunlander. 2830 had
17
carriages in tow.

1752D arrived at Cairns at 1718hrs with 3C65 Kuranda Tourist Train.

I presume 1755D departed Cairns with 3K30 and failed on route; with
1770D
sent as rescue.

I don't take much notice of foreign 1720s when they arrive in Cairns, as
usually head south again quickly. But both 1773D and 1755D have arrived
recently, and seem set to stay. Both have been rostered on regular local
workings. 1775D + 1773D are working 6C95 Express Freight from Mareeba to
Cairns as I write this posting.

So I'd say we will lose 2 of our regular 1720s to the south shortly
(maybe
1770D being one of them).
