Probably, the problem is that the auto points keep breaking down and
whoever is supposed to fix them (Vicroads?) is very slack about doing
it.

mmmm...
Using B's on the Swanston St routes may cause more problems than it
solves. There can already be some tram congestion problems at the Uni
terminus and as B's are longer, it would reduce the number of trams
able to be at the various stops at any one time. This in turn could
slow down the trams further.
For a start, the Uni terminus needs to be fixed up.

Probably some battleship-coloured monstrosity, the Bundoora, Mont
Albert, St.K.Beach and E/Burwood lines would logically be the first
lines to get them. But who said anything about logic?
