Without being there, I need more details. However, if people are entering
the station, tickets can be checked. There is a law about attempting to
travel without a vaild ticket which covers entering a "non freedom" or "paid
area" before catching a train.
Hope this helps.

| Hi,
|
| At Chatswood station today the Cityrail ticket inspectors were checking
| tickets before people go thru the turnstiles (on the freedom side). I
| though their area of responsiblity started on the other side of the
| turnstiles? Although if I was one of the ones checked and fined, I
| would rather get a fine before entering the station area so I could
| challenge it in court.
