NRC and LVRF on the south

Aus loco discussion mailing list

Another interesting day at Exeter with a few exciting lash ups.
1WQ1 at 0648 with DL44+49+47 and 35 RHDF's in tow
This was the first regular run, when I questioned the driver about the length
he said that it was running with that number of wagons all week.
With the Unanderra - Calwalla line closed from tomorrow till the 19th of Nov.
there are two paths through the metro each way so I am guessing that they might
run one long train rather than two shorter trains. We will have to wait and see.
When WQ1 got to the quarry the staff refused to load the train as some wagons
had 1-2tons of coal still in them. They eventually loaded some wagons about
2/3rds of the train I think.
Next was 7MB4 at 0744 with NR10+99
WL4 at 0955 with NR11
3PW4 at 1102 with NR13+70
1QW2 at 1129 with DL47+49+44
7BM2 very late at 1215 with NR68 (apparently a poimts failure in town somewhere)
1WP2 also very late at 1252 with NR61+30+105+117 had failed between Unanderra
and Dombarton don't know why, perhaps unable to lift the load hence the higher
than usual horsepower.
NY3 had to detach 286m of train at Picton due to incorrectly marshalled train.
It didn't come through Exeter before 2pm.I think this happened as a result of
the train being run out of Leightonfield opposite direction than normal.
It ran round the long way through Wardell Road and Meeks Road then East Hills.
A friend chassed QW2 out to Robo where it crossed WP2(3xDL's crossing 4xNR's)
and a token photo through the mist and rain to prove it(lucky buggar Ivar)
This combined with X45 on the up later in the day meant a busier than normal
Sunday at the most important signal box on the south.
On the south Danny
