3801 is back in traffic, following repairs to a
defective tube. It rolled into Hornsby this morning at 0830
with NS25 charter to Newcastle, and on departure became the first steam movement to
use Hornsby's realigned and extended down refuge. (One for the truly dedicated
track bashers!!).
In a nice nostalgic touch, the loco is
carrying the "Newcastle Flyer" headboard.
For those willing to brave the weather, the ascent
of Cowan Bank tonight is scheduled for 1804 ex Hawkesbury River.
