Running as SL 35 Austrac ran a passenger train to Lockhart yesterday, the
train comprising of 4814-4836, EQBX12 ( cover wagon with generator )NDS
2283, RDH 2239, MH 2711, MFA 2724, MFA 2714, EQBX 11( cover wagon )was
chartered to convey passengers to the yearly picnic races held at the
Riverina town of Lockhart, the train commenced from Junee at 0845 with
stops at Bomen, Wagga Wagga and The Rock with arrival at Lockhart at
1200, there being no station or platform, country ingenuity was brought
forward in the shape of sheep races, which were wheeled into position
against the doors of the carriages, allowing for a rather dignified if
not sheepish departure from the train, the consist was scheduled away
at1800 with an arrival at Junee 2030,
Its probable that next year an extra train will be utilised to convey
passengers from the Albury region or possibly the Griffith area
