Re: New FV contract.

This would seem to confirm the story that has been kicking about for a few weeks that FV was to take over the Austrac log trains. This raises a few interesting questions. Where do FV intend to service their locomotive? How would they transport crews about? Totally unrelated but I am told that a NSW private operator is negotiating with FV for the hire of locomotives.

Heard at work today that FV have just been awarded the contract to move
logs from the Queanbeyan area to Port Kembla. G 533 will be the unit
moved north to work the trains and wagons are currently being modified
and bogie exchanged for the new service. FV drivers will crew the
trains, probably with drivers that are already qualified in NSW rules
and operating procedures (Dynon train crews) for an interim period,
however there is a desire to employ local (NSW) drivers in the near
future. Interesting times ahead for FV!!!
