South happenings

Aus loco discussion mailing list

The two EL's that ran south last night ran as SM7 and must have been the first
Sydney to Melbourne service.I haven't heard how often they will be running.

NR limestone Ran two sets on Saturday doing 1 trip each instead of 1 set doing
2 trips. 1st set was DL50+41 and 20 wgns which had a fatal collision at Robo.
Went through Exeter about 1345(tabled at 555am). 2nd set had NR57(blue)+DL47
(grey/orange)with 16 wgns through Exeter 1545.
QW2 back through at 1750
QW4 back through at 1955(3 not loaded due to repair tags)
9323 the only other train with decent motive power had 8126+16+48116+80+109
Yesterday morning saw WQ1 with NR55(green)+DL50 with 20 wgns
This morning was back to normal with QW4 with DL50+44 with 16 wagons 2hrs late
at 0110. It seems to be the normal at the moment but looks good with both locos
in charcoal grey.
It seems business is picking up for Freight corps on the main south with both
the Bomen oil traffic and the Griffith traffic running either independently or
instead of the MS and SM trains lately.
3126 this morning with 8210+8170 at 0145
