Re: EL's
Aus loco discussion mailing list
Hi Everybody,
I followed the EL's from Bundanoon to Campbelltown this morning to get
about half a dozen shots on video. The sky was pretty grey until about
Bargo where it brightened up a bit, but the video looks and sounds
fine.
It was an interesting train to follow. I had the impression that
whenever it came to a downgrade, it slowed considerably - it seemed to
crawl down to Aylmerton tunnel for example.
The train was held outside Macarthur for five or six minutes with the
crew checking oil levels in the second loco while it was held.
Incidentally I've just come back from two weeks in South Australia
where I shot about three hours of video covering most of the old AN
fleet, - including a good coverage of the five GMs taking their wheat
train from Keith to Port Adelaide - but I had to wait until I got back
to NSW to get a shot of an EL.
On another tack, I've also noticed the apparent time delays in
messages coming through the List - for your interest this was posted
at 4:05 Eastern Summer Time from Sydney
