XPT motive power

I heard on the grape vine last evening that Country link are thinking of
using NR's on the XPT to Dubbo in order to remove power cars from service to
do engine changes. Apparently two NR's would be used with one at either end.
If was the case there would have to be a driver and an observer on the
train. This would mean that Country link would have to use Freightcorp
employees to act as observers as there would not be enough Countrylink
drivers to have two up all the time. At this stage no start date has been
rumored.
