R711 Triumph return to Bendigo

Hi All,

Sunday the 7/11/99 West Coast Railway's R class No. 711 made its triumph return to Bendigo, approx. 4 years after it was taking out of the park. The run to Bendigo was fantastic, and at one point almost 40mins early, (not bad for an R class with an average size load) (Sorry Yuri if you could not keep up, but I was not on the board)

The Ceremony at Bendigo went off ok with only one hitch and that is the bottle of wine refused to break over the cab. The Mayor of Bendigo made several speeches along with Don Gibson and Garry McDonald, both talking about the Locomotive and its future which I might add sounds very promising. The loco was named the "Spirit of Bendigo" the name board has been placed on the cab sides under the Number Plate. The times for the trip are below

due to the train running early and the requirement for being on time at Bendigo for the Naming three extra photo stops were given, Malmsbury Castlemaine and Harcourt
