Aus loco discussion mailing list
Sighted in the GNR yard (hump end) in October, and again at the opposite
end last weekend, was a V/line Y without any number identification -
merely a small white "S" stencilled on the cab sides below the (missing)
numberplate (this, as I remember it, was an attempt in the mid-late 80's
to label Ys with their home depot: some received "S" for Seymour, some
"E" for Echuca. Is this correct?)
Which Y is this? A photo in December Stalerail shows a plate-less "S"
Y163 crossing the Flinders St viaduct with a rail train; I do remember
the few "S" Y's were in the 150's and / or 160's. If Y163, does GNR now
own it, or do they lease it for their track maintenance contracts?
