Re: ADMIN: Pretty Park VIRUS

The Pretty Park virus is a worm virus, similar to the Happy99 one that went around some time back.

Further info at the Norton/ Symantec Anti Virus site - refer http://www.symantec.com/region/uk/avcenter/venc/prettypark_worm.html

I'm not sure if it's entirely fair to blame the Ausloco member who originally mailed it, as they have probably done it inadvertently, after their own system became infected. You will note that we received copies addressed to "mailbox" , because it has mailed a replica of itself to addresses found in the host's email system. It tries to do this every 30 minutes without the knowledge of the user after it has been executed. I received a direct copy of the email, plus an Ausloco copy, from Michael Bray, addressed this way - I would guess that he has opened the file and become infected.

It is imperative that you DON'T open ANY .exe file if you don't know or trust the person who sent it. I almost fell for the one from Michael , but then I realised he would have no reason to email me directly. The danger of these worm viruses is that appear to have been sent from someone familiar.

You will need to delete the email, then delete it from the Deleted messages folder. It may also be advisable to empty the recycle bin in case it has been saved.

Regards,

Paul
