[Ausloco] Inner West 31/5

There was certainly a lot of rail activity happening on the Metro Goods
line between Marrickville and Canterbury this evening. All the trains
sighted were on the up goods line, leading to speculation of a freight
'traffic jam' on the Metro goods.

First up was 8144 with a container train, seen at Meeks Road jct
(awaiting a green light to cross above the Illawarra/Bankstown lines) at
17.15.

Leaving Marrickville station found 4855 (#1)/4853(#2) on another
container train about 500m on the down side of Marrickville station at
17.17.

The next train was seen lurking in the vicinity of Dulwich Hill Station,
being 8214 and a long train of empty container wagons at 1720. This was a
long train stretching from the up signal guarding the points at Wardell
Rd junction to within 100 metres of Hurlstone Park station.

Finally, 17.22 saw NR111(#1)/NR104(#2) stopped between Hurlstone Pk and
Canterbury Stations with a small shunt train.

This is a rather unusual occurrence, as this time period usually sees one
train only on the up in this section. I hope this is of interest and
relevant
