Re: [Ausloco] Smaller locos leading larger locomotives (was X.40)
A Loco Chargeman once told me that the smaller unit (diesel) was put in the
"shafts" because of the different transition changes between engines.
In other words it was to stop the larger unit pushing the smaller unit off
the track when the larger unit changed transition and the smaller one had
not.
How true this is I have no idea, but it seems an reasonable answer
