[Ausloco] Ghan & Airport Link

    Today's Ghan (21/5) is leaving Sydney with NR59 Steelink, one empty car carrier and 14 coaches.

    Off Topic but for anyone interested today was the opening of the Airport Link which I traveled on and all I can say is if you like tunnels and looking at nothing, this is your trip !  The stations are quite modernized and the escalators zoom, the LCD screens are excellent but the PA is rather poor, if there was any at all.  The travel was on S sets and the ride was comfortable.  I can't say much for the supposed displays at some places such as Wolli Creek and Green Square but the Domestic Airport Open Day was spectacular with over half a dozen planes to walk through and to observe the undercarriage and engines.  The aviational firefighting section was interesting and those pumpers are absolutely ginormous.  Most trains were on time or only 2-3 minutes late and I had an enjoyable day NOT chasing trains.

    News on the Patricks Terminal derailment - well today midday there were quite a few SRA/RSA trucks and about 40 men and a lot of rail, apparently all the wagons have now been moved and the rails have to be fixed.

    Hope this is of interest and doesn't annoy anyone too greatly for my only off-topic posting ever.
