Didn't some of the USA ALCo PA type locos with the ALCo 244 diesels get
rebuilt with GM diesels? The suggested plan for 961 seems similar. At least
it is getting workshop attention.

        This is very true. In fact there were many examples of Alcos being converted to GM in the USA.

Jamie, also a few the other way around ;)

The KATY being one of the main culprits, ahhhmmm, undertakers of this vandalis, ahhhhmmm modification :)

Diesel Era had a great article on these in an issue a couple of years ago.
