[Ausloco] FA bits and pieces.
Started work at 0400 this morning (Monday) for a standby/Diesel Shed
pilot/Fuel Point triple rostered type job.
First move was to relieve the crew on a late running 9084 goods ex
Echuca and run it to Appleton Dock. Locos were G 516 and X 32 and after
a quick shunt we returned light engine to Tottenham Yard.
The next job ex Tottenham yard was to attach X 32 to VQCX 626U - G 523 -
X 39 - S 301 and return the consist to South Dynon Loco depot. Depart
Tottenham Yard at 0557, West Footscray Junction 0602, South Dynon
Junction 0609, South Kensington 0613, West Tower 0621-0628 (Reverse)
Dynon Loco arrive at 0648. (Excessive time in section West Tower to
Dynon Loco account S 301 defective and only able to power in notch
1.....but it did make it....and yes it is NOT flat!
Other bits and pieces from today include:-
9442 log train to sale was T 371-H 2-Y 171, with Y 171 (ex storage)
being transferred to Morwell to become a local yard pilot, and work
between Hazelwood siding and Morwell.
T 382 and T 402 ex Storage at Bendigo, in the workshops being patched up
ready for return to service. The worksheets state that T 402 is the only
unit to be returned to service so far, however it looks as if both are
being repaired.
T 388 ex storage at South Dynon was in the workshops for return to
service aswell. It needs number 1, 2, 3 and 4 traction motor change over
and A exam.
Y 118 was noted in the workshops aswell, ex storage. Looked like it was
having a traction motor change and a bogie swap, as it was stored many
months ago with a cracked bogie frame.
This means freight Australia have only one stored loco, that can
possibly be brought back into service at short notice. Y 110 is still
stored at Dynon. There might be another at Geelong (Y 121) however from
computer records, that loco is still used on occasion.
I believe every day this week, there are grain services operating each
day (in daylight all the way) ex Portland to Maroona, reverse then run
to Westmere, reverse and return to Portland. Locos are EL 54-EL 57.
Times are (Don't quote me) about 0700 ex Portland and 1330 ex Westmere.
X 34 and A 85 ran the APEX quarry train today. Im running the 1025
Kilmore East apex tomorrow (hoping that the computer controlled s**tbox
isn't repaired in time, and the X is long end facing KE, and the A is
Number 1 end facing Melbourne....just my wish list!!!)
G 543 is back in Melbourne for repairs ex grain services in New South
Wales. G 542 also has a list of repairs outstanding including DB grid
light, DB grid overcurrent, Number 2 TM cut out, Dynamic brake fault etc
etc....so I would expect this unit to return to Melbourne shortly.
