I have been doing some enquiries re sale of 422s and AFAIK they have been 
SOLD to ASR not to NRE/ALco as suggested.
A total of 16 units have been sold which is the whole of the class minus 
42202 and 42206 which were sold to NRR and 42203 and 42220 which will be 
retained for the present.
The SALE apparently took place on 26/4 and the units are reported to be 
marshalled into a "train" at Werris Creek as of now.
They are scheduled to leave the Creek on Wed 17/5 and will have 42219 on one 
end and 42210 on the other although I do not know which is on which end.
They will travel via Binnaway to Parkes to collect 42205 which will be 
forwarded from Lithgow to Parkes to meet them.
Somewhere enroute, a suitable locomotive equipped for train order working 
will be attached in the lead to enable this "train" to work through train 
order working territory.
Their eventual destination is believed to be Whyalla and at this stage there 
are no definite plans available to me as to what ASR are to do with these 
units as far as rebuilding to what specifications and how many of the class 
will be rebuilt.
I hope to have more information on this matter towards the later part of 
this coming week.
Regretfully, I will not be able to get time off work to photograph this 
train, but wouldn't say NO to some kind soul forwarding copy photos to me. I 
would advise my address off list to any such willing folk.
