[Ausloco] Off Topic Postings

Shouldn't the following postings really be on RailAusTalk ??

"It was announced yesterday that the WA Police Department will take over
part of the old Midland Workshops. Where does this leave ARHS (WA DIV),
which are now sadly split into two groups. One group works at the
workshops on mystery projects whereas the other half try to keep the
Bassendean Museum up to a descent standard. If ARHS gets kicked out of
the workshops I wonder where the extensive collection of rolling stock,
both standard and narrow gauge will be housed.

Possibly a forced merger with Hotham Valley Railway as part of the new
multi-million Pinjarra Heritage Rail Centre, may be on the cards."

"As this is my 1st message to Ausloco, I will keep it short. Today
Saturday, I saw ex SAR pass car BRB 86 painted in its new Murraylander
colours of yellow, red and silver, beside the RTS shed at Dynon Loco looking
very new.For those who don't kkno, it was refirbushed and painted at
Ballarat by WCR."

"Bullhead rail is also known as chaired rail for this reason.

As a matter of interest (and not really related to locos), is there any
(non-reserved) chaired rail still around? The Bendigo line had some chaired
rail sidings (e.g. the Down Refuge at Sunbury) until very recently, as did
the car sheds at Ballarat.

There was also some at Newport Workshops laid with iron rail. VR stopped
ordering iron rail in the 1860s!"
