Alan:

The Class 24 (No 3620) is still in Auckland. Most of the conversion work 
is complete, so it now has air brakes and oil firing, as well as a few 
other tweaks. It should be tested and checked over the next couple of 
weeks to ensure it meets QR interface requirements before it is shipped 
to Brisbane for final okay.
It will then be towed to Cairns for final commissioning with the train.
Start date for the service is still not finalised.
