Re: Exeter tonight 28th March

Aus loco discussion mailing list

NRC have about 45 - 50 wagons and normally run in rakes of 20-24 behind 2x NR's or 2xDL's.
Normally only one rake is running at a time with the second used as a stand-by in case of late running, the locos can drop off loaded wagons and pick up mt's, or if it's running too late they run the second rake with two other locos.
What you saw was the 2xDL's on QW2 running about 6 hours late due to rain related troubles at the Quarry, crossing the 2xNR's on WQ3.(don't kill me if it's wrong the 18th was a long time ago)
They are normally through Exeter as WQ1 in the morning about 0530 mt to the Quarry at South Marulan and back through loaded on the up at 1030 as QW2 then back up here at 1830 on the down as WQ3 then through on the up at 2230 as QW4.
Things can run very differently with trains running very early - very very late.
Hope this has been of some assistance

I was recently down at the 'Gong' (18/3/00) and lucky enough to get a pic of 2 limestone trains crossing, just after Ununderra station climbing the hill.  The locos were DL41/50 and NR106/57.  Anyway, I was wondering how many of the limestone wagons (RHDF) Nat Rail have at their disposal and are the trains running twice daily to a timetable ?
    Thanks, Chris
