As pointed out in the letter from GSR to the passengers it was beyond their
control (after all it was a Frieght Australia grain train which caused the
problems)

To get this back to loco related, the train was hauled by NR89 (only has
R89 on the side) and the usual J103 did the shutning at Specner Street (I
think the crew got sick of waiting from about 7am till 1:45pm, they were in
a big hurry to shunt the train, also the signallers where putting the
pressure on, they needed to get trains into Platform 2 for the normal VLP
services)
