Austrac 3368

Aus loco discussion mailing list

Hello,

This train departed Junee this afternoon with GN T373/Austrac 4814/Austrac
1873 (A-B-A) hauling an assortment of passenger carriages.

1873 was being hauled dead attached for repairs in Sydney.

It followed F.A. train number 3982 until Cootamundra. Here 3368 was allowed
to run through it as well as a FreightCorp wheaty off the west.

3982 was hauled by G543.

Around Morrison's Hill the T class failed.

This left the 48 class to continue unassisted.

At Harden, the T & 18 were detached in the yard.

Here, the FreightCorp wheaty 'built-up' with trucks stowed in the yard.

Both it and 3982 departed ahead of 3368.

The 48 class then departed at 7-30pm (19-30) with 'maximum tonnage' towards
Sydney. (What tonnage was it called with the two failed loco's attached?)

The 48 was turned on Harden's turntable. Could this be the first time a
private operators loco had used it?

One would imagine that assistance would be required around the Metrop and
further points north on it's journey to Branxton.

Anyone care to guess what might be used?

In the mean time at Harden, the 18 class will probably be attached on Monday
morning's MS7, while the T will wait until SM7 returns that night. This
would save extra light engine movements.

Goodnight.
