Further to my previous message regarding a new tour operator about to
run trains out of Perth, I am pleased to inform readers that Hotham
Valley Railway are now officially allowed to run diesel hauled trains
out of Perth City Station, so this should now pave the way for the new
operator to also run out of the City, maybe with W.A motive power and
rolling stock is ARHS take up this opportunity to their advantage.
Fellow W.A. enthusiast Noel Forster appears to have his wires crossed on
the subject of running ou of the City so hopefully this has set the
record straight.
To all Metro Vickers fans, maybe we can again see double headed 'XA'
class depart from the City, albeit with modified mufflers, but only I
guess if we get some motivational people at the ARHS who want it to
happen..... but as Noel says , "it'll never happen"
Yesterday 4/3, 1962 built English Electric 'C' class No.1702 hauled a
train from Perth to Albany, which will return to Perth on Monday. The
consist was six South African coaches.
Today Hotham Valley were due to run to Greenhills (on the York -
Quairading line) , departing from City Station 9.00 am, I presume Hotham
Valley's other C, No. 1703 will haul this train.
